Samsung Wave is coming…

During the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the Korean colossus unveiled its brand new touchscreen, the Samsung Wave, which definitely challenges the competition thanks to its two new features: the Bada OS and the Super Amoled display.

The Super Amoled display is what maybe fascinates the most: the screen brightness values are really high, so high, that it is better to work with lower display brightness, as it could be otherwise slightly annoying. This feature enables the user to fully enjoy movies, thanks even to the good support of the Dvix/Xvid codec.

Connectivity & networking are also exhaustive: 3G, the latest “N” Wi-Fi , Bluetooth 3.0 and most interesting a software that turns your mobile phone into a wi-fi router, which you can for instance use as your netbook modem.
No worries though for the battery, which lasts up to 2 days even with the “always-on” modus.

The Bada operative system is still in development, obviously a young one, but its goal is to compete against the iPhone and Android ones. 3 fixed icons and a menu that is horizontally scrollbar – as the iPhone, which however has 4 icons.
The phone is multitasking, i.e. it can use multiple displays and widgets in the meantime, better if not more than 7 displays though, however pretty smart: if the widget does not “fit” the desktop you are using, a new desktop is automatically created. Last but not least, the whole system is run by a 1Ghz cpu – really fast and efficient.

An app store is preinstalled as well, the Samsung Apps: this is of course still work in progress, so forget thousands of apps you might find in the iPhone app store, but Samsung promised to load it with many new apps soon.

And what about the price? Around 399€, really attractive and remarkable, compared to its competitors which have cutting edge technology as well. I am looking forward to its release on the market, planned on May 17th!
