My new android HTC

A week ago, I got a brand new phone, an HTC, from my firm. Summing up the most interesting tech specs at first glance: Android 1.6 as platform – not the 2.0, as for instance “Milestone”, the latest Motorola, still a good one though -, touch device, with both landscape and portrait modus, bluetooth and wlan, much lighter and with a slimmer designer compared to the iPhone.
Therefore I started to play with it from the very first moment: the set up is relatively easy, you only need a Gmail account – which I personally already had – and here you go: all your contacts, emails and calendar are synchronized with your phone! The same goes for the SIM card: a simple click and all your contacts are now onto your brand new HTC.
Another cool feature is the Market – which has already a shortcut on the main screen: from here, you can download all android apps (either premium or free), as a kind of iStore. The market provides a list of the top offers, meaning the most downloaded apps from consumers. The download is really intuitive and starts by itself once you have clicked on the “install” button. Shouldn’t you like the app, you can uninstall it as easily.
Such a phone really invites you to play around a lot, so I started some apps and turned on wlan, but hey: after a short time (approx. 1 day), I figured out that my battery is almost off..when I clicked on the explanation button, it tells me for instance that only wlan consumed 70% of my battery! So I immediately decided to turn it off and use my WAP connection..which won’t work too good as the device is intended to navigate mostly on the web.
In the very end, compared to my older phone (a Blackberry), this one is super and enhanced with lots of cool and nice functionalities, you even get used to the touch screen writing tecnique pretty easily , and is even really straight forward – but if you go for it, always keep the charger in your bag and remember to ask for a flatrate!
